Blackjack Tournaments
While you may already love traditional blackjack games, online blackjack tournaments are always fun to play. In fact, some players find blackjack tourneys to be far more exciting than the regular version of the game!
If you’ve never played in a blackjack tournament, don’t worry because it’s not that much different from the cash games. The card values are still the same, and you are still competing against the dealer; however, the big difference is that you are also competing against other blackjack players for a shared prize pool.
There are a variety of formats available with blackjack tournaments, with the most common one being where players are competing to move up the leaderboard towards big prizes. The more money you can make by beating the dealer and winning big bets, the higher your position will be on the leaderboard. This adds another element of blackjack strategy to the equation, where you need to either increase or decrease the size of your bets as the tournament nears the end.
Another common online blackjack tournament format is one where there are several tables of 7 players, and people are gradually eliminated as the tourney moves along. For example, after 15 hands one player from every table will be eliminated because of their low score. Depending on the tournament, tables will either be combined once a certain number of players have been eliminated, or the last remaining player from each table will make the final table.
The great thing about online blackjack tournaments is that an extra competitive element is added because you’re playing against both players and the dealer. This differs from traditional blackjack where everybody’s goal is to beat the dealer’s hand. Another big difference is that, for a $5 or $10 buy-in, you get to compete in a lengthy blackjack tournament; contrast this to regular blackjack where you could lose this amount in one or two hands.
One more point worth noting about tournament blackjack is that people are more likely to make long-term profits because they are competing against other players for money rather than the house. Assuming you keep making correct plays across a wide range of tournaments, you are going to come out on top in the end!
