Socialite, actress and potential heiress to the Hilton Hotels fortune are just a few of the ways that Paris Hilton is known by the American public. However, nobody has ever labeled her a good blackjack player.
Maybe this will change though after a birthday trip to Las Vegas that resulted in $30,000 in winnings for the 31-year-od. Apparently, Hilton was at the Wynn Casino making some really big blackjack bets when she hit the $30k mark. What's interesting is that she is a blackjack beginner as alluded to by this tweet:
Just won 30k playing blackjack at Wynn Las Vegas! YES! Birthday girl's luck! I love gambling!"
Now most people probably didn't need this tweet to tell them that Paris Hilton is not a great blackjack player. However, her success at the blackjack tables just goes to show that anybody can win on any given night with this game.
Of course, your chances of winning are greatly improved if you know basic blackjack strategy. If you're really good with blackjack strategy, you can actually lower the house edge to 0.5%. Assuming you're able to do this, you are almost on an even playing field with the casinos.
Even if you don't know anything at all about blackjack, it's not extremely hard to use good strategy. The main thing you need to do is pick up a blackjack strategy card and use this to guide your play. These cards help tell you what the optimal moves are in each situation based on your score and the dealer's upcard. As you become more comfortable with the game, you'll be able to play without the strategy card.
