Anybody who's checked out blackjack strategy for even a few minutes knows that drinking alcohol doesn't exactly enhance your play. In fact, too much beer or mixed drinks can make you forget all of the blackjack tips that you've learned, which leads to foolish mistakes. But until now, we've never seen the adverse effects of alcohol on blackjack and gambling in general put into number form.

But that's exactly what CasinoCastle did (nice name by the way) when they compiled a list of the worst countries when it comes to playing casino games. Furthermore, they made a correlation between their findings and how much beer these nations are guzzling. Here is a look at both sets of data:

Worst Casino-playing Countries (Payout Percentages)
1. Czech Republic - 78.05%
2. Germany - 80.15%
3. Ireland - 91.02%
4. Poland - 91.87%
5. Australia - 93.83%

Liters of Beer drank per Person (Annually)
1. Czech Republic - 158.6
2. Ireland - 131.1
3. Germany - 110
5. Australia - 104.7
7. Poland - 95

Keeping in mind that these statistics are based on the entire world, it's pretty clear that there's a direct correlation between how much people are drinking, and how they perform on the casino tables. This is especially the case when you notice that there are three countries in the top three of both categories.

So while you may have fully been aware of the effects of alcohol on your blackjack profits, it's always nice to reinforce things with a study. And if you're from the Czech Republic, Germany or Ireland, tell your buddies to keep the beer out of your face until you've finished a blackjack session.
